China possesses a vast territory with enormous landscapes and varied civilization. If permitted, I would like to recommend Fenghuang as the favorite site to spend the only day in China, for it serves as an eye feast from three sides: the ancient residence, the austere civilization and the beautiful scenery.

When visit Fenghuang, the ancient residence will surly leave you with an overwhelming impression. Most of the houses are well reserved from Ming or Qing dynasty, with the original essence of the typical southern flavour in China. The structure of the house is special, as half of the foundation is established in water with a few bamboos as the pillars, aiming at making most use of the steep landscape. I am sure you will be surprise to have a look at such unique and classical architecture in China when wandering around the narrow street.

What's more, the austere civilization offers you with a clearly cultural background at that time. By visiting the Shen Congwen's old site, you can see his reading room and his original draft of Biancheng which arouses the desire of tourists to gain a look at what the pure love in the quaint town is . When touching the old desk Shen Congwen once sat, you seem see the scholar falls in deep meditation vividly. It is also a halcyon experience walking around the yard with the jasmine trees around.

For the beautiful scenery, the illustrations are countless. However, Tongjiang is a must see among the list. During the daytime, the quiet river wreaths the whole city, witnessing pure love affair in the neighbourhood, collecting gossips among the windows, and listening to the folk songs of the fishermen. At night, lighted lanterns slide away with the river, sending the best wished to the relatives faraway.

To tell you the truth, it is very difficult to choose one place to visit, since China gets so many special places worthing seeing. Still, I strongly recommend Fenghuang as the special attraction to spend the precious day, for its residence, civilization and the scenery are truly served as a valuable and unique part among many places in the vast
