Grade Point Average (GPA)
Grade points measure the achievement of students for the number of credit hours attempted. Grade points are determined by multiplying the grade points per credit hour by the credit hour value of the course attempted. The cumulative grade point average is the total number of grade points earned divided by the total number of credit hours attempted. Attempted credit hours include the number of credit hours of "F" even though no grade points are earned for this grade.

如果你在一个学期选择了12各学分，分别是
ENG111 English Composition 4credit hour(4各学分）
MTH191 Calculus I 5 Credit hour(5各学分）
ECO211 Economic 3 Credit hour(3各学分）
那么好，学期结束了，老师给你评了成绩。A就是4.0 A-就是3.7 B+就是3.5 等等，看上面那个表格，你就知道相应的分数对应的Grading Scale是什么。
接下来，我的成绩是A,A,A。3门功课都是A.
那么，A在Grading Scale里面对应的是4.0
好，我们开始计算。
首先用你所选课程的credit hour(学分）* 你所得成绩所对应的Grading Scale.
那么，刚才的案例，就是 4*4+5*4+3*4=48
然后，用刚才所得的数字除以这个学期你总共选了多少学分
那么，继续刚才的计算。这个学期总共选了12各学分。第一步所计算出的结果是48。那么，用48/12=4.
最后，所得出来的数字就是你的GPA.
我们在第二步的结果是4.所以，说明GPA为 4.0
