…divided.
(底下是自己听的,不保证对)
(instructor) Exactly! Control of the river
was extreme important during the war. Because of this importance, the colonial
forces made a great effort later in the war, er, during the war, to (fort
fight?) West Point. Eh, Pam, what types of fortifications did the colonies (install
on?) West Point during the revolution?
(Pam)
Canons were installed in the hills over looking the Hudson in the area
around West Point and a number of forts were constructed.
(instructor) Yes, that’s true, the colonial
forces installed canons and built a number forts. Um, they also installed a
very different type of protective device. Anybody? What was that?
(Someone) In addition to the canons and
forts, they stretched a chain across the river.
(instructor) Ah ha, and why was the chain stretched
across the river and why in that location?
(Someone) Well, uh…The chain was built to
block the river and the location between the Point and constitution island was
ideal because I think it wasn’t visible to river traffic coming up the Hudson.
