30. It has recently been announced that a new high school may be built in your community. Do you support or
oppose this plan? Why? Use specific reasons and details in your answer.

I strongle support this plan since there is no enough school in local area for teenagers to study.
The education system in my community is in a seriously bad condition.The ratio of school to population is
too low here. We only have 5 high schools in my hometown in which a quarter of million people live. In
other city in comparable size, generally 20 or even more high school are need for the children. Since the
existing schools are not available to so many students, many parents send their children to other city to
finish high school education. This often takes extra costs. For some poor family, finance is limited and
therefore some of them have to let offsprings avoid further learning and find a job. If a new school is
settled, this situation will more or less improved.
Furthermore, if a new school was built, it also helps to decrease accidents. Because some students have to
walk two or three miles away to attend class, troubles occur every year, such as traffic accidents or
personal attack by bad people. Two month ago, a child went home alone after school. On his way home, he was
kidnaped by a stranger and his family was asked for a huge ransom. Since then local government realizes
that it is a serious problem for students walk a far distantce to go to school. Building more schools near
our community is certainly good for safty.
In addition,a new school will also give poeple more space for activities. In my community, there is no
enought public space. Thus the only 5 schools are usually used as places of concerts and meetings as well
as casual talks for local people, whenever students are in vocation.
Although a new school may make local area a little narrow and some extra noise, the advantage is apparently
overweigh these drawbacks. It will be welcomed by local people and government.
