直到有一天我在论坛上有人说
在维基百科上看到了这一段话
Essay submissions for the writing section of the TOEFL iBT are now graded primarily by machine via the ETS Criterion® program. Though ETS promises a human review of essay submissions in addition to the machine review, there is some question as to whether machine essay evaluation is appropriate.
从这段话上看，托福作文是先机器改再人改，所以对于大家写作本身的词汇和句法就有很高的要求，你用一些难的词汇，机器可能给的分就会高点
我GOOGLE了一下这个话，在wikipedia没有找到（个人觉得可能是因为不准确所以删去了这句话)
不过在在一个网站
http://www.englishgratis.com/1/risorse/cert/toefl.htm上搜到这一段话
因为不是wikipedia上写的，我对这句话也产生了怀疑
于是我发了邮件给ETS，得到的回复是
The essay section of the writing test is score by 2 independent readers
所以，以后如果谁说托福是机器改的，就别去理他了，或者去抽他
