Recently, I have received a gift of money from my parents as my twentieth birthday's present. They left me the right to choose what I like. The amount is enough for, coincidentally, either a piece of jewlery I desire of a ticket to a concert I am longing for.After considerate comparison, my preference goes for the concert.
Obviously, the effect of the jewlery cannot be denied. It will largely embellish my apperance, resulting in more confidence in myselft and better impression on others.However, when compared with the concert, its beauty seems superficial.
Firstly, the effect of concert gets enhanced while the brilliance of the jewlery fades as time goes by. A piece of jewlery, no matter how splendid it is, it will be replaced one day. It may end up with being ignored and forgotten.On the contrary, a concert it to be followed, not to be replaced.All the experience of enjoying music will form my whole understanding in music. I can surely predict that even in my seventies or eighties, I will still clearly remember the first concert in my life, which leads me to the glorious world of music.
Secondly, attending a concert can help me develop an interest in music. I always admire those great composers and musicians providing us marvelous melodies. When bathed in music, I often find my emotion wave as the music played. A common sense goes that music is the best medicine for people in sorrow and loneliness. The concert, the close touch to music, will certainly have profound meaning in my later life.
Finally, a concert can also improve my beauty, not by superficial ways like the jewlery does, but by edifying my mind and soul. A simple example can give some light to this point. An English football player, famous both for his miraculous skills and his notorious temper, has been advised to listen to music regularly and even learn to play violin to be more mild. I hold the opinion that with music playing in one's mind, one will behave gentle, leaving a good impression on others.
Thus, I have made up my minds to spend the money on the concert, which is surely a sensitive decision.
