For the next couple of weeks, we will focus on how animals communicate with each other. Now, we have a rather none(narrow) view of vocal warming that animals give each other. Some recent research indicates this communication is not more complex as we traditionally thought. Let me give you an example, prairie dog. A dog is not really dog at all, a rodent who live on plain in western part of U.S. In case you cannot visualize them let me describe them to you, they were as big as squirrels but without bush tail. And came across article about how a scientist name has claimed to discover a breed of cows with superior tool making ability. He claims that tool of these are different from the tools that other animals made in several ways. For one thing, the crows made different tools for different situations. Also the tools are very sophisticated.

He claims that the may actually intentionally modified their tools to specific shape before using them. Other animals like sea otters do use stone to pound open the shell of the crabs and another prey. And champanzee have been observed have puzzle before to use as umbrellas. But these activity don’t need three criteria for planed tool making. Yeah and this even could attract(keep track of) their tools. When they change haunting sides(sites) they generally took tools with them, and when they eat, they usually hold their tools with their feet. Interesting! And what is the significant of those haunting study, well, some scientists argued that born with this behavior. But if haunt can prove that they really do intentionally modified their tools. Their behavior are measured different from other animals, and could be considered congnitive . Scientists have discovered that the birds eye is extremely sensitive to out trive light. In one experiment robins are able to distinctive between two objects. One completely unlight and one lit by very dean(dim) light. Even with very dean light the object was radially apparent to the robins . IN another experiment, female birds were exposed to two male birds one is behind the filter transparent to UV light. And one is behind the block the UV light, the female prefer the male bird behind the transparent. Those may have peer(appeared) more colorful, hunting birds use UV light to track down small animals. This is possible because small animals use urine to mark the trails and observe the UV lights. The hunting birds can use UV light to follow the trail of their pray.

Before we go, there are a few things I want to point out to you, particularly I want to talk about barnacles. As we discussed, it is a shellfish, usually small, less than lake. it is related to the lobsters, shrimps and crap. However, unlike other shellfish was considered silent organisms. That is they are potentially damaging nuisances. You know, because they attach themselves to wood piers, rocks and ship bottoms, as we will see orienals. And they even attach themselves to other living creatures such as turtles and whales. Now bo use a very powerful cement it is self made to attach themselves. In fact it is one of the most powerful groon(glues) known. Paleontologists even discovered fossils from hundred millions years that have bo still attached. So, as you can see, it is a really powerful and long lasting cement scientists today even try to duplicate their powerful adhesive. Only a few country use for food,
