Some people hold the opinion that the new resources will soon replace the fossil fuels. Others, however, oppose this statement. Unless we have seen both sides of the story, it is unfair to make any judgment about it. But if one has considered the following perspectives, he/she could only disagree with the statement as I do.
To begin with, new resources, such as the wind energy and the solar energy, still have many problems that prevent them from being application. To illustrate, we need look no further than the case of wind energy. Although wind energy has been discovered since Ancient time, and it is considered to be one of the most potential energy for our human beings, however, according to available statistics, the whole electricity generated by the wind energy only accounts for no more than one percent because of the instability and several others negative effects, which includes visual and noise pollution as well as the harmfulness to the migration birds. The prevalent usage of the wind energy will have a long way to go, since scientists and technicians will have to try to find ways to solve the tough issues mentioned above.
In addition, another point worth mentioning which may delay the usage of those new recourses around the world is the diverse governmental policies in different countries. Take our country China for instance. Despite our economy has developed dramatically, there are still many poor regions in our country, especially the rural areas. Our government has emphasized so much on a peaceful and harmonious society, that it should be the first step to try its best to decrease the gap between the rich and the poor. Every year, a large amount of money is spent to save the people suffering from the poverty and starvation and to increase the incomes of farmers as well as workers. Therefore, not enough money is left to support the discovery of new energy, not mention to application of such new recourses, although we know the seriousness of our environment and the importance of discovering new energy would be one of the most efficient methods to save our world! Our country does not have the capacity to help to discover the new energy now, let alone to some poor countries, especially those African countries.
Admittedly, it is a tendency that the new recourses will replace the fossil energy in the future, as more and more people realize its importance to save our earth. However, there are still many problems for the application of the new energy which can undoubtedly delay the usage of it.
To sum up, due to all the mentioned reasons, we may safely come to the conclusion that the new recourses will not replace the fossil fuels very soon.(460)
