It has been said, “Not everything that is learned is contained in books.” Compare and contrast knowledge gained from experience with knowledge gained from books. In your opinion, which source is more important? Why?
Books and experience are completely different sources that provide us knowledge and expand us horizon. When it comes to which one is better, some argue that experience plays a significant role to gain knowledge , while others hold the opposite idea. Both methods may have their advantages and disadvantages, they can be applied under different circumstances. Anyway, I find myself agree with the latter.
Some people believe that sometimes the knowledge gained from experience is much deeper and more comprehensive than the one gained from books. Some personal experience teaches us several crucial knowledge in life which hardly can we gain from books. Besides, we can only gain some knowledge from experience, such as the ability to swim. If we only learn how to swim from books but never drop into the water to experience on our own, even we can get every details from the official guide to swim, never can we learn the ability to swim. Therefore, there’s no deny that books can not contain everything.
Despite there are some shortcomings in learning from books, the benefits of gaining knowledge from books are overweigh its disadvantages.
Firstly, compared with the knowledge that gained from experience, knowledge gained from books has a much wider range. It becomes more and more important for us to have a capability to gain knowledge quickly and widely due to the increasing process of globalization. Gained knowledge from books seems to be the most effective way to satisfy our demand. What’s more, Education Expert has said that the most easiest way for people to gain knowledge is that gaining knowledge from systemic sources. As everyone knows, books are systemic sources. Books are built with logistic sentences just as a house is built with bricks but a collection of logistic sentences can not be called books any more than a pile of bricks can be called a house. In addition, reading might be the most cheapest way to gain knowledge in the world. Imaging you are sitting in the public library, there are thousands of books you can learn that only required you the basic reading skills. An example of this may be given. The famous revolutionist Marks through reading the books in public library to learn several languages. According to above, reading is an excellent way to gain knowledge.
To sum up, gained knowledge from book is too alluring not to be chosen. Learning from books is effective, professional and costless.
